A Local Shift Worth Planning Around
Property values across Chaska, Chanhassen, Victoria, and the rest of Carver County have climbed steadily over the past several years, and for a lot of local homeowners, that's changed the math on their return. Higher property taxes, combined with the 2025 increase to the SALT deduction cap, mean more homeowners here are itemizing than they used to. But it cuts both ways: many of the same people whose property values have risen enough to make itemizing worthwhile have also priced themselves out of Minnesota's property tax refund. Neither is really a win. It's just a different set of numbers to plan around, and it's the kind of shift worth walking through with someone who knows the area before you file.
